Blues & Gospel
In the USA, the South (the Confederates) fought against the North (The Yankees), which created a civil war in 1861. Abraham Lincoln was President of the USA.
This war resulted in the abolition of slavery.
After the civil war, black men created Blues and Gospel to express the feelings of black people: hope, troubles (problems) and their solitude.
Gospel = évangile.
